Re: My 2017 Cherokee WANTS me to get rid of it...

My brother does software design and QA for Boeing (he writes and tests code for ancient avionics - nothing to do with the MAX), and he isn't saying boo. I suspect there have been internal management-led discussions about how being discreet and remaining employed aren't all that different.

If you haven't, watch AvE's teardown of the same angle-of-attack hardware Boeing decided was robust enough to not need redundancy (unless you are willing to pay more...). The guy - who calls himself "bumblefuck" - is awesome. This is starting to sound like the Boeing 737 Max issue! https://www.youtu...

SitRep: The kit arrived beat to complete hell - components are too destroyed to assemble. Bummer! I was looking forward to playing with this.

Re: My 2017 Cherokee WANTS me to get rid of it...

We kicked around the idea of a Porsche, and we checked out a few Audis and VWs. The underlying dilemma is the guarantee that it's going to get beat up and kicked around on a regular basis. I specifically went with the Cherokee because we wanted an affordable vehicle to beat on without feeling guilty...

Madness lies in all directions from where I'm standing... Madness lies in that direction. At this point, I'm in one of those trust-the-devil-you-know situations - so I think I'm just gonna hang onto it for a bit longer. Mrs. 5chn3ll does not feel safe in anything smaller than a Cherokee, and she doe...

Re: Cabrio Issues

When it comes to half-assery, I'm the man! Congrats, Daryll! That is worth a try. The gorilla glue seems to have secured the window to the top well enough, so now I just need to seal the water leaks and if the RTV also provides some mechanical bonding that is helpful too. Thanks! Daryll Update on my...

You have fewer temperamental Italian sports cars that require endless amounts of time and money than me.

Re: My 2017 Cherokee WANTS me to get rid of it...

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Regardless, a fuggin' oil level indicator - since the oil level is obviously critical enough to shut the car down if it gets low - seems like a useful addition. Hell, even my 20-year-old water-cooled German abomination has one of those. It seems pretty evident ...
