Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

In the past week I've repaired my driver door lock issue and installed a set of slightly used KONI yellows on her in place of the badly blown Bilsteins. Amazing difference. Now I just need to get a new battery cover for the key fob so it will be reliable again and I'm good. Discovered my front sway ...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Got home and ordered a replacement from DC Auto in Rocky Mount, NC..meaning I'll probably have it tomorrow for under $100 shipped. my key fob is just flat worn out. literally, the cov...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

I checked the tire pressures and decided to raise them to the OEM specs, even though I'm running non-stock size tires (245/40, 275/40/18). I told the guy at the tire shop to set them at 35 psi all around when I had them mounted, but they were all at 32psi cold today. Set now at 36psi front/44psi rea...

Re: The dreaded oil filler tube

you are dealing with a little dissimilar metal corrosion.. the bushing is steel, the alternator ear is aluminum. soak it good with PB Blaster, Kroil.. or your choice of penetrant, and hit it directly. How many turns is the bolt loosened? Was it difficult to loosen? You are trying to slide a steel bu...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

or it is just fully bled now. I replaced mine when I installed the new alternator, it was a brass hose barb and I didn't like the tacked on look..zip ties to hold it back..etc. I bought a new fitting from RockAuto and it is the same as the OEM but aluminum, powdercoated black to look stock. no diffe...

Re: The dreaded oil filler tube

As done on my 1999 Carrera 2 I've done this job several times. The first was when the tube broke just after getting the car and RIGHT before I was leaving for Werks Reunion in FL. I pulled the now 2 piece filler tube, epoxy glued and gorilla taped it and reinstalled... ugly but it never leaked and l...

Installing Porsche OEM roof rack

You would think it would be straight forward.. I picked up an OEM roof rack off Pelican a few months ago and went to install it. The "screw-out-placeholder-studs" in the roof rails all are seized. So seized in fact that the heads of the slot head screws snapped off when I tried to remove them. So to...
