Re: Racetrack Stuff

Something else I learned -- getting towed is hard. Keeping tension on the tow rope so your car doesn't get jarred to bits is tougher than it looks. After years of W2W racing in Lemons and Champcar, I've gotten really good at the ol Flat Tow. And all other manner of nursing injured cars around a tra...

Re: Racetrack Stuff

Well, she's (probably) dead Jim. Here's a video of the last fast lap: Here's a couple laps later when fuel starvation appears to have killed her: Buddy has an engine I was intending to swap in this winter anyway, so that's been moved up to next Friday. Hopefully install goes well. It's possible the...

Re: Road Trip Tips for 996

But where did you stop for an oil change and UOA? Did you take a crate of DT40 for the road?

Re: Road Trip Tips for 996

Credit card and a cell phone. Mostly common sense stuff -- a good inspection and maintenance pre-trip does wonders for your psyche. The meatbag behind the wheel is the most likely thing to break, so put together a med kit. A cheapo ELM 327 bluetooth OBD2 scanner plus Torque Pro for Android is a grea...

For Rent: Comprehensive LN IMS tool kit

Just finished doing a Single Row Pro LN retrofit. I have the Pro Tools kit, Faultless kit, and RMS installation tool, all packed into a heavy duty case.

Re: Replacing the MAF (mass airflow) sensor

Even if you don't have a MIL, Durametric can reveal a failing or failed MAF. I didn't have any CEL/MIL, but Durametric showed a MAF fault. Reset it and it came back next drive cycle. Put a new MAF in and it no longer shows a fault in Durametric. Could be the placebo effect, but the car seems to run ...

Re: C4 brakes

Don't forget to bleed the clutch too...there could be some air trapped up there. Bleed the outside of the calipers first, then the inside. Start at the RR, then LR, RF, LF. Since you have PSM, you might need Durametric to help bleed them, but I would try to do it manually first anyway. If you're in ...

Re: Warehouse 33 discount for 996outpost.com members!

Big thanks to Warehouse 33 -- I've spent a couple thousand dollars over there in the last month or so, according to my chief financial officer. Great experiences! This is my go-to vendor -- I almost wanted to send back about $2k worth of stuff I bought from other vendors and repurchase it from WH33....
