Re: 996 Battery recommendation/comments

TBH, unless you're tracking the car or are simply want to pay the $$$ for "lighter weight bragging rights" at your Saturday coffee and cars, the correct sized lead-acid or AGM battery from (gasp!) Walmart is worth considering. Their "EverStart Maxx" batteries are manufactured by ...

Re: Educate me on Nail Guns for Trim Work

My recommendations for what to get: A nail gun specifically for finishing nails. Something that'll handle up to 2" nails, either 18 gauge or 16 gauge, will be fine. All of my nail guns are Porter Cable pneumatics. Plenty of the correct length and gauge nails. For trim work you'll want at least ...

Re: How your 996 has changed your driving / 996 performance driving tips

A few tidbits... The stock US suspension on the '02 C2 Cab delivers a very floaty front end at "fun" speeds (experienced only in carefully managed environments, naturally). Installing the M030 RoW suspension, which lowers the front end 1/2" more than the back end, cured that trait com...

Re: 996Outpost monthly giveaways now sponsored by Kansas City Automotive Museum!

So I arrived home from a week long (Porsche) road trip in the Ozarks to this: IMG_0533.JPG IMG_0534.JPG And the treasures tucked away inside! IMG_0535.JPG (Hmm, I wonder who chose the color for the Museum t-shirt...) The map is quite interesting, as it doesn't show the town where I did most of my gr...

Re: Winterizing the 996

Running the car in the garage periodically is not a clever move IMHO. Doing so poses a couple of potentially significant risks: 1. Carbon monoxide poisoning if you keep the garage door closed when running the car. If the weather's good enough for the garage door to be open, the weather's good enough...

Re: Winterizing the 996

Ctek 3300 as a battery maintainer -- I have 3 of them and they meet my needs. https://www.autogeek.net/ctek-multi-us-3300-12-volt-charger.html I'm not a fan of using the cigarette lighter outlet so I hard-wired a pigtail from the battery leads to a convenient spot in the frunk to make using the quic...

Re: New Large Truck

Fully agree -- new full-size trucks offer practicality, luxury (to a point) and if driven prudently can even be reasonably economical. We picked up a 2019 Ford F-150 with the base 2.7L Ecoboost (turbo) about a year ago. 400+ ft-lbs of torque, 24-25 mpg on the highway, full leather, all of the useful...
