Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

I hope my spilled oil may appease the Porsche gods on behalf of my 996 brothers. Hear my prayer. For every chain guide there is a light bulb. For every differential seal there is a window regulator. And for every ECU malfunction there is a motor mount. So, for when the gearbox cries, send to OceanB...

Yeah, I just haven't seen anything. Waiting to hear from the indy.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Might just be the shitty shift linkage popping off the transmission... (i.e. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/575455-car-won-t-go-into-reverse.html) I don't think its just that. If I pump the pedal a lot, I can get enough hydraulic pressure to get it into gear. But the pedal is still too close...

Re: Drain plug washer question

To answer your original question, as far as I know the crush washer exists purely to stop it from leaking. No leak, no issue. Two changes ago, I forgot to put one on but I really did not feel like buy another round of oil, so I left it. I still slept pretty well at night.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Ugh, so on Saturday I couldn't get it in reverse to get it out of the garage. The clutch pedal has been spongy for a while and the engage point has been close to the floor, but I've been wondering if its all in my head. So, it needs at minimum a new clutch slave and bleed if not a new master clutch ...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Has anyone replaced the clutch slave cylinder and bled the system? On a scale of 1 to I-don’t-wanna, how tough is it? Wayne Dempsey says it’s a piece of cake, but it looks like it’s tough to do with the engine in the car. My clutch pedal basically engages on the ground, I’ve got to get the pedal hig...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Turn on the AC. Get out and walk around the front of the car. Both drivers side and passenger fans should be running on low. Put your hands under the front of the front wheel liners. You should feel the air moving. If you have Durametric, you can turn the fans on to check them. I live in Florida an...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Not something I did, but a weird data point. I drove the car into the city for work yesterday because I don't have enough frustration in my life. On the way out, I got stuck in traffic. The one thing that worries me in this car is overheating, because I feel like it runs hot although checking in the...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

The PCA just announced that the Porsche Parade will take place in the Poconos, PA next year, only about an hour and a half from me. Lots of events over three days in the one currently being held in Indiana. I'm looking forward to it already! If I don't stay over for the whole thing, I am at least go...
