Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Thank you! I will enjoy it!! Yes, understood about the Continental radios, but my understanding is that it will work in my car with the base stereo without any adapters. If not, I will just go ahead and do the double-din unit, they really are not much more expensive but will require more effort to ...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

Got my car today! Finally, after a long wait for parts and a tech to come back after a holiday vacation. Drove 50 miles or so around suburban Chicago today and had a blast. Too bad the roads here suck. Not much better in Ohio though. Everything works as expected, I now have a new IMS bearing (LN re...

Re: New Member Intros

OK, I actually have my car finally! And it is great. Drives perfect, amazing what a difference replacing a near-worn-out clutch makes in drivability. Couple of little things that I will need to address but overall could not be happier. Specs - 1999 Cabrio with 71,900 miles, six speed, no options. At...

Re: New Member Intros

Bringing an old thread back to life, I'm actually picking up my 996 today! Between my travel schedule, parts shipping delays and the indy going on vacation this turned into a month-long wait. But all the work is done and just waiting for it to get cleaned up. Will post some pictures once I actually ...

Re: New Member Intros

Wow, I didn't know they put a non-leather seats in the 996. Sacrilege! Was this like the BMW "leatherette" or purely vinyl seats? I know there are lots of leather options (e.g. logo embossed, rear seats leather, full leather, deviated stitching, etc.), but when it boils down to it, wasn't...

Re: New Member Intros

Welcome. Enjoy the insanity. If you have leather in the car to repair, then it wasn't a total stripper. The base seats for the MkI was vinyl :o Hmmm - interesting. I thought that the base interior was "partial leather" but I guess not. Oddly my frunk sticker shows no options, but also doe...

Re: New Member Intros

Thank you for letting me join the club! I figured it would be OK when I saw that the main rule is to "not be a dick". Possibly I can handle that... Also learned why leche is bad in a Mexican strip club (who knew?)... About me - longtime car enthusiast but this is my first Porsche. Not sure...
