Re: Death by Engine Lid
Nope. As mentioned, neither Schnelly nor I have a second strut. It's probably another one of those cost cuts on the 996. The engineers designed it with 2, but then a bean counter noticed one would hold it up and decided they could save an extra $5/car... I've got two on my 05 with the standard engi...

Re: Death by Engine Lid
I've got a single strut on my 2000 and that seems to be correct, but I questioned that because it seems like you could add one on the other side if you wanted to. Maybe for lids that have wings added? Nope. As mentioned, neither Schnelly nor I have a second strut. It's probably another one of those...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
I helped a guy who left his Turbo S in his garage too long get it started. Which eventually meant taking the battery out of my car and hooking it up to the jump post for the frunk, then his battery. Success! But not before an hour of frustration while I tried to get my battery jumper from Sears to ...

Re: Camera thread
I am messing with you on film camera if you can't tell. Modern cameras and processing tools are ridiculously expensive. When I lived in San Francisco I knew a professional photographer who did some very serious work, he told me about his costs. I never bothered to get invested into photography afte...

Re: Camera thread
This... Digital stuff is for wimps. Real work is done is dark room, with test strips, then multiple wasted paper sheets, then drying etc. I took two years of elective photography in HS, best chill 5/6th period classes ever. Opening the film canister in the dark bag and trying not to mess it up, sta...

Re: Camera thread
You can see the way you had your aperture set up with your 80mm prime your depth of field is so shallow that your focus is about halfway up your dog's snout to the bottom of the eye. Yeap. Again the lighting was also not the best which shows how impressive that lens is. Similarly on the shot with h...

Meh. The world has sharp edges, best to toughen them up early  Note: I'm only teasing, we all raise our kids in a different manner. ;) Yeah you are right about that. The deal is they are not my kids and one group of parents would not be happy with me explaining what that means using that w...

We can take that part off easily. Actually we can do the design both ways. Easy to make it available with or without.

Re: Camera thread
For comparison, just shot with a Samsung Galaxy S10 in portrait mode, which about as fancy as it gets. Good camera gear definitely makes a difference. But even if I had good gear, I wouldn't know how to use it. 20200607_115609.jpg 20200607_115321.jpg Indeed. Thus why the pic I took is badly focused...
