Re: Racetrack Stuff

Here's a video I did this past summer once the DE organizers found out I had video running during a session that turned into a "red mist" fest. Keep in mind that this was an advanced group with a mix of SCCA racers prepping for runoffs, PCA instructors, and "advanced DE drivers"....

Re: Photo roll call...post ‘em up!

Here's a couple of the 996 track beater. First one is going through turns 8-9 at the IMS road course.

Second has the NT01's mounted up for business. Thinking I may get the roll bar powder coated to match the red wheels. Just because racecar.

Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread

PSM is not standard on all Mk2's. It was an option. I don't have PSM on my 2003 and have the joy of learning to catch throttle off over-steer in a rear engine 911.

Re: My 2002 996 "renovation" thread

On #3. Spray some electrical contact cleaner in the lock mechanism on both the engine compartment and the frunk. Clean these up well and ensure there's no grime in either mechanism. This may get the microswitches behaving correctly with little effort. Perfect! Thank you man! I'll do that. Once clea...

Re: Questionable Rotor Wear

Totally normal. Replace rotors when out of spec (2mm or more of wear measured in few spots on the rotor).

Re: What's in your toolbag?

^ That's interesting. I have a battery powered impact wrench, but it just doesn't seem to generate sufficient torque (for example, to remove a wheel, so I don't trust it to tighten the lug bolts either). I end up breaking the nut or bolt loose manually, then using the impact wrench to save me the e...

Re: Racetrack Stuff

I received an unprompted email from Jud yesterday, based upon my conversations with Blue Chip, that XP9 is good for 750 miles OR 1 track weekend. But not both. After one weekend it is trash and needs to be thrown out. Hmnmm.... Now the UoA’s of my XP9 with 8 track hours actually looked pretty good....

Re: Racetrack Stuff

Space can't be that limited; and you can buy the nonrace oil replacement out there. You need an oil catch pan and a wrench. Space will depend on someone trailering a car. Not sure if someone is doing that or not. FSI has me using DT40 for the street and XP5 for the track. Needless to say I go thru ...

Milwaukee M12 Ratchet. I'll never go back to manual tools again - the entire M12 line is very impressive.
