Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Well with Volvo topic being popular, back in college my student group was hosting a largest investment conference on the west coast at our school. One of our speakers was Ken Fisher. He was worth $1.5B then, $4.3B today. I was sent to meet and greet him and get him to the auditorium. He was arrivin...

Re: Oil warning message

Mine - engine off oil pressure zero, engine on lately it just pegs at 5 and stays there. One of these days I'll get a new sensor...one of these days. Already jiggled the wires and connectors...no go there.

Think of it like spam click bait email. Hit the button for "block sender" and never think about it again. Ban=block...easy as that.

Re: Tiptronic upgrade?

Well obviously the place to start is to have a full service done on the transmission, new ATF fluid and filter. If you have it done at a Porsche dealer, you can also have them re-flash the TCU, probably with the latest and greatest software. Then see if there is any difference. Doing nothing will re...

Re: Tiptronic upgrade?

When was the last time it was serviced? How is it when you shift manually? Do you have a sport mode?

Re: Steering Wheel Horn Frame Replacement

It really is not a hard job. Steps to take - have the right tools! Those air bag T27 bolts are difficult to break loose. A deep right angle T27 bit is what it takes. Fire up car and turn the steering wheel so the air bag bolts are at 6 o'clock, loosen them but don't remove them yet. Once both are lo...

Re: What's in your toolbag?

Durametric on laptop is the best for diagnostics and overall maintenance. It will reset air bag light and you can check your cam deviations on a routine basis. I also have a simple OBDII scanner that I keep in the door pocket for a quick look at codes and it will erase the codes. Nothing like being ...

Steering Wheel Horn Frame Replacement

I wanted to document my project so it might help the next person. Problem - horn honking when going over bumps. Pulled B3 fuse until my new horn frame came in. I noticed in some previous post they said use a T30 bit. Mine is a 99 C2 four spoke steering wheel. The correct bit is a T27 for the air bag...

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

You know that light just pops out of the carpet....right? A long while ago I replaced a lot of the light bulbs with LED bulbs. Pop them into the light socket..easy peasy. But wait, plug it into the socket and it doesn't work. Cheap China crap! Actually, not so. LED bulbs are polarity sensitive. Swap...
