Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

New shoes for the 996 today. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S all seasons ala Tire Rack. IMG_3040.jpg Of course it rained. IMG_3047.jpg Robby with GoMobile was exceptional. Certified Tire Rack installer and he's definitely experienced with all things Porsche. It was nice having the install done here and the ...

Re: Insurance for the 996

Agreed. That was my impression as well. BUT...now I know. Sticking with Hagerty for another year.

Re: Insurance for the 996

I got a DETAILED quote from Leland after submitting a LOT of additional info. While the price went up a little, it was fair for a collector car policy.....however...they have some restrictions on driving the vehicle. No errands, side trips, just to - from car shows and events. Not sure how they woul...

Re: Insurance for the 996

Update if anyone is remotely curious. I realize that rates differ by state, but today's shopping yielded some numbers for comparison:

Existing policy with Hagerty: $677 for the coming renewal

Same coverages, except $2000 higher insured value, from Leland West: $367 with PCA discount.

Re: Break Bleeders

With the size of your fleet, [and since you have a proper lift] it just might make sense to up the ante for a better bleeder set up and a compressor that's up to the task. I'd be inclined to avoid Harbor Freight when you upgrade. :) Practice the most on the vehicle that get's driven the least. :)

Fingers crossed. I think my grandkids might be the ones to actually profit off my 996 ;)

Re: Insurance for the 996

It seems like you're trying to avoid "big box" insurance co's but we recently did as the commercial says and switched from Allstate to Geico at a savings of about 45%. Allstate kept steadily increasing my premium with no tickets and no accidents and I'm 37. I have all 3 of my cars with th...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Those wheels are really Fuched up. 8-) Guys over on 914world.com thought the Fuchs looked a little strange on this car. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/porsche/914/2450003.html#&gid=1&pid=15 Notice anything odd in the pictures? Here’s one: E82F9ABA-93D7-4D26-A9AA-82AFA9A03864.png...

Insurance for the 996

I've been using Hagerty since I bought the '99 996 back in 2017. The premium has steadily climbed, as I'm sure most do. But I'd like to shop around for alternatives that offer the agreed-amount policy like Hagerty. Even the insurance for the daily driver 2013 ML350 and the never-driven '06 Mini Coop...

Re: Battery-powered Battery Tender - does it exist? And if no, then why not?

A charge controller similar to what the smaller portable solar set ups use? The other idea was convoluted, but then again it was motivated by Frunk's inquiry. At least I got my NOCO GB-70 charged back up after a long winter sitting in the back of the ML350. Even after months of cold, it was still ab...
