Also, they are usually extra $$$, but if you expect the battery to possibly drain on you, get a deep cycle battery (Optima finally offers one that fits the 996). That way the battery isn't toast the first time it gets dead dead.

I was really impressed it went from mostly OK to deader than dirt in seconds. Starting is a big strain on the battery, especially if it's having trouble maintaining a charge to begin with. I've jumped it, driven for a good 30+ minute keeping it in the 4k+ RPM range, and still had it refuse to crank...
