Serious question...your gas cap doesn't have a tether? It broke off. But it's a luxury you know. I replaced the same cap on my last 996 because of the same problem. From what I have read, the light weight flywheels cause abbie normal vibrations on the crankshaft, thus expediting demise of the crankshaft and all internal engine components when it implodes. You are going to have to determine whether it is the frunk latch switch or the engine lid latch switch first. It might be simple to find the electrical connections (plugs) and unplug them.
