Re: Remote lock question
The remote part of the key fob gave up. Figure it is the circuit board. Manual key in the door works just fine. Mini key blade is the same as the Porsche....only works on the drivers side door. No key hole on the passenger side. So I figure since we bought the car used, somehow either the manual key...

Re: Remote lock question
I have wondered about this too! I have to use the key blade in the door for years now since the remote gave up, and if that one lock cylinder bites the dust then it is window breaking time (or a locksmith). And, after 11 years of ownership of the Mini Cooper, hey...thought it might be a good idea to...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Finally got around to replacing the door latch mechanism, again. Highly highly highly recommend going with the updated part number, and not buying one off ebay or using the old part number. The new part number latch operates faaaar smoother and no more unlocking issues. Joe, prior to changing the l...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
That is really good information. Thank you. I figured I might be in need of a new door latch mechanism. After all, the car is a DD and is 20 years old. Guess we might be beginning to discover the lifetime of parts on our cars. I wonder what that rubber seal is all about? I know about the rubber seal...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
Regretting purchasing a used door latch mechanism. The micro switches work fine, but now takes a few tries to open. Doesn't open from inside or outside. I pull the handle, window drops, but it's like the door is still locked. Same deal when pulling from inside. Arghhhhh. Let us know what you find o...

Re: can catalytic converter issue cause an air injection code
If you have Durametric, you should check the Bank 2 O2 sensor readings, pre and post cat. It could be that the cylinder 5 misfire caused an overrich problem that the Bank 2 cat could not handle, and it might clear up on its own. But you should still get the pre/post cat O2 sensor readings on Bank 2 ...

Re: Decklid Actuator Failure?
I think the latch may have a little spring that pops the u-shaped piece on the deck lid up just a little tiny bit and out of the latch mechanism. My front latch started doing that (not popping up enough to get my fingers underneath to lift) so I took apart the latch and found that the spring had com...

Do you have the OBC (on-board computer) enabled and do you have the fourth stalk on the steering column...the small one above the turn signal stalk? You use it to toggle between the settings.
