Insurance for the 996

I've been using Hagerty since I bought the '99 996 back in 2017. The premium has steadily climbed, as I'm sure most do. But I'd like to shop around for alternatives that offer the agreed-amount policy like Hagerty. Even the insurance for the daily driver 2013 ML350 and the never-driven '06 Mini Coop...

Re: Battery-powered Battery Tender - does it exist? And if no, then why not?

A charge controller similar to what the smaller portable solar set ups use? The other idea was convoluted, but then again it was motivated by Frunk's inquiry. At least I got my NOCO GB-70 charged back up after a long winter sitting in the back of the ML350. Even after months of cold, it was still ab...

Re: Battery-powered Battery Tender - does it exist? And if no, then why not?

This is probably on some manufacturer's radar, as battery tech is improving at a geometric rate what with all of the electric car nonsense...I mean investment. :) I have a NOCO GB70, a pretty hefty lithium car-starter thing that came with cables to hook up phones, etc. I experimented by hooking up m...

I saw Pensacola and thought you may have re-enlisted and gone down for a little refresher training. :)

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?

I had a few misc. errands to do today, so why not the 996? Great day for February in these here parts. A couple of highway trips reminded me that I need new tires - badly - these BF Goodrich have become really noisy after 6 years.

Well...at least they were not trying to hide it....as if they could. The problem is that now, every owner of a pile of rust with a 914 badge still attached is firmly convinced that they have a mid-five-figure gold mine.

What's the next "mania" Porsche -- the vaunted 924?? :)

Re: A fuel-ish question

I was advised to avoid BP 93 octane for my '87 Benz V8. I had been using it and the difference showed in that old motor. I remember the good old days when I was first driving in Omaha, NE. There was a gas station in the late 60's called Vickers-Safeway that had multi-grade premium fuels, all the way...
