Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

When I bought Gelb, the primary issue that the seller disclosed to me was oil overconsumption (1qt/500mi) that had developed within 12,000 miles after he had paid Powertech in NJ to rebuild the engine after an "overheating episode". I had eventually found that the oil control ring (waffle...

Re: Low cost tire review

I'm thinking of going with PS2s this time to see if I can get some more life out of them All we've ever used is PS2s and we are happy with them, but by year 3 the rubber is hardening up pretty good. So even if they aren't ready by wear, they are are starting to age out by then. It's gradual and I h...

Re: Low cost tire review

IHMO if you got 15K out of the rears you did well. My 996 C2 cab, even with an alignment targeted towards tire longevity (e.g. the least amount of negative camber within Porsche specs), gets maybe 12K out of the rears and that was with either Hankooks or Bridgestone S-04s, neither of which are made...

Re: Low cost tire review

I put Kumho's on mine last winter, and like you said, I don't drive aggressive enough for any difference between Pilot Sports and these to make itself known. I might go expensive next time just to see, but the last thing I think about on this car is the tires. So my cheap Kumho's only lasted three ...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

Anyone have a recommendation for cheap "limited use" insurance? We finally have a third car, which means I can get Hagerty, etc. But a lot of them limit driving to shows and the like, at least from what I've seen. I don't mind a yearly mileage limit (I do about 5K a year, less now), but I ...

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com

I got my new ignition switch in and I'm basically the maximum size a person can be to do this job lying in the foot well. Do you guys take the side vent off and come in from the side normally or just contort and reach up? I took the bottom "tube" off, which is necessary, but not the side ...
