QuickJack - anyone have one?

The reality of getting an actual lift for my garage is doubtful - a normal garage with a low, finished ceiling pretty much precludes anything but a scissor type lift. Even a Max Jax would be too tight - just not enough room side-to-side.

I realize that with the Quick Jack that you trade lift height for portability, but it looks like one of these would get the car high enough for wheel / brake work and the occasional peek at the motor. Maybe an oil change if I can find a large enough drain pan. :)

Another plus for QJ is that my lowered 911 would still probably clear it...but not much.

So, let the games begin: any current users of Quick Jack? Opinions are welcome, but facts and experience are REALLY welcome. 8-)

Thanks for your time as always!!

I have an early version of the 5000 model and it has been perfect for oil changes, brakes, and other small maintenance items. I was able to use it with the SUV adapters to pull the transmission when doing the IMS and clutch.

Would I prefer a two or four post lift, yes, but this has been great. I originally bought it for a C5 Z06, but have used on my CS4, 924S, and even a 1973 Wagoneer.

Interesting. Are those the SUV adapters that are giving the 911 a little extra boost? Looks like the process was: up on the Quick Jack, down on to the cement blocks, then back up again using those tube-spacer-things to get an extra half-foot. Are they something that came with the QJ or are they home-fabricated?

Thanks for the feedback!!!

The adapters are from Quickjack and provided 3” or 6” of extra lift. Yes, up normally, set down on the blocks, insert the adapters, and then back up.

I have the Danmar M6. Absolutely love it. My uncle has quickjacks, but seldom uses it because he doesn't like having to drag it out to get set up.

I leave my posts in place, and wheel the pump out of the way. I'm eventually going to make new hydraulic lines to route from above so no hoses on the floor.

The Danmar unit is still on the list, but I would have to remove some shelving and maybe a cabinet on the outside garage wall to allow for it. FIRST I would have to check the slab. The house was built about '62 and I know they did not anticipate lift installations back then. 8-)

While the Danmar lift is not completely 'portable', it is definitely 'transportable' - I could unbolt it and take it with me if we move.

How tall is your garage? I would prefer the Danmar and will likely get one after we move this summer. However, the Quickjack has been a good solution for the last few years.

The finished ceiling is 8' 2", but the steel beam that runs laterally across the ceiling brings it down to 7' 6". Where the Porsche sits, the beam would contact the top of the windshield if the car was raised high enough. The Danmar might work, but I would have to do some serious measuring first.

A Quick Jack or a 2 post lift would definitely be better for wrenching than the two 4-posts that I have in my garage. But, they work OK for doing maintenance and work great for storage. I would love to have some sort of easily-portable 2 post lift that I could swing out of the way when not using it. I find it so much easier to work on a car when you can stand underneath it. But, even a Quick Jack would be handy sometimes, like when doing brake work - the 4 posters are basically worthless for that.

I got a QuickJack last fall. Car is up on it as I type. So far, I like it. Easily slides under my lowered C2, lifts nice and evenly, and stores away taking very little space. Height is great for wheels, near perfect infant using a roller stool. I can roll under it easily for oil changes. I like the idea of the SUV adaptor for larger jobs like transmission! I dropped mine last winter using jack stands but I hated lifting car onto stands due to the rocking back and forth lifting from each side. QuickJack has solved that problem and makes it much more comfortable and less stressful to lift.
