I have a 2 post as well and it does take a 2-3 times to ensure it's under the correct spots. Safety is imperative when using a tool like this. It's nice to not have to use jackstands or lay on your back anymore though so it's well worth it if you have the space.

I got a lot of attachments with mine, it came with the lift as a $600 perk.

Tip from a mechanic. Use the rings on the base of the lift and pull up on them . This allows you to move the arm, without putting it back down to adjust.

I cannot just place the hockey pad on the lift and push it under the vehicle. I have to push the arm under the car, and then try to center the hockey puck. (Only on the rear since the side skirt sits lower) It's very difficult to see how the car is sitting on the hockey puck unless I raise the vehicle a few inches, and that's why it takes so much time. I don't adjust every corner, usually just one of the rears. I still appreciate the help.


I'm not expecting to have to make any adjustments after I get these new lift pads made.

I use some 3/4 x 8" x 12" pine boards, made some marks on the floor and then drive up onto the boards, this allows to swing the arms under even the lowest car the new Saab Aero with its massive side skirts.

Another trick is to get some car jack dollies that and slide as they will lift most cars up a full 1-2", I use these some times when dealing with something that is broken/dead to get the car positioned on the lift by my self.

We use those car jack dollies at the museum all the time. I think we have 3 sets of them. They work well and on a wide variety of vehicles.

Got back home from a work trip to DC yesterday. Finally have time to work on this project again. Here are the first completed machined pieces.

The initial trial was very good. I got the vehicle in the air in a fraction of the time. Pins located the lifting puck on the first try on every corner. No adjustment was needed. You'll see the pins have a taper on them rather than the small chamfer you saw on the printed prototype. This helps them locate themselves into the hole on the bottom of the lift point better. Also, I've got the tolerance on the shaft that slides into the lift arm perfect. When you let go of it, the air just barely slips through the puck and lift arm, so the puck slowly drops. I will have to use it for a while to see if I want to make any changes.

You can see there is clearance between the top of the lift arm and the bottom of the vehicle.

Perfect. You're close to my favorite museum! (National Air & Space Museum) I usually stay in the Capital Hilton since the conferences are there.

Any update on this project? I have a different brand but if the holes in the arms are the same size I may be interested in a set depending on price.

I've been using it, and absolutely love how much easier it's been to get the car safety on lift on the first try 100% of the time. What size is the hole on your lift? I'm machining it from bar stock, so it can be whatever size.
