996 Rear Wiper Delete

Post by Einsteiger » Mon Sep 30, 2019 4:38 pm

Anyone done this or had it done? To date, I have never used the rear wiper....except to hold down a window cleaning cloth in a strong wind.

Bumper Plugs makes a dandy cover up for the delete - at $89. :o

With this particular color and a tinted rear window, the wiper on my 996 is not that obvious. But I keep wondering if the overall look would be cleaner without it. [click on the image and it will load right-side-up]

If I do the delete, I'd have another box of original parts to keep - to present to the next owner...or for my heirs to pass on...

Maybe it's much ado about nothing, but I'm just curious of any of you fine forum members have done the rear wiper delete or have an opinion either way.

One opinion per person, please.

Bought the car with the factory wiper delete. Not being afraid to expose the car to less than warm sunny weather, there have been many times I wished we had the wiper...

Thanks. I've driven this one in some pretty heavy rain....hard to avoid it this summer....and I didn't use it. Maybe because I've not found the switch yet.

At speed the window stays clean from the airstream. Traffic is where it can get annoying for me. Especially in the winter with wet snow falling.

At this point, it's a non-issue. Road car: sun, rain, sleet, whatever. Better to have the rear wiper if needed rather than wish I had not removed it.

Besides, I love the way this car drives in the rain. :)

Good man!

One of my favorite 911 pictures is KC's old C4 in the snow
