Storing Extra Set of Tires and Wheels

I know someone that opted for the wall mounted rack. He mounted it so that he could access the mounted tires without a ladder. He liked it until the first time he was doing something underneath said rack then stood up - forgetting that the rack was overhead. Ouch.

I opted for the roller cart. I made mine. I have the boxes with the stock wheels stacked on it now. I’ve not decided if I want to deal with switching out tires twice a year.

Just a quick blurb, option 2 for storing tires is a horrible idea, especially if they are gonna be up there a while. The tires like to mold themselves to that beam in the front and leaves for flat spots. When they built our new dealership, the parts department got fancy racks like those. They didn't use the for very long, especially with summer tires. Made it difficult to balance out.

Well, you're in the same boat as I am WRT winter temps. I assume you don't have tires on the stock wheels. We'll have to visit about options. I'm not sure if the NA 996 and the 996TT tire sizes for winter are the same. Since my winter wheels will be 18x8 and 18x10 and the winter tire size recommendation is narrower than the normal 996TT size, they just might be the same tires. I'll have to look it up.

Floor space is too valuable for me. My little LA garage measures 17'x19'. I opted for a wall mount solution. This rack did the trick. I routinely rotate the tires.

That's about the cleanest looking perpendicular mount I've seen. Nice and minimalist.

When I had the Mustang I just stacked the tires in a corner of my garage. Worked fine and no flat spots. Did that for the four years that I had the ‘Stang. Now fortunately I have all seasons on all four cars, including my 996. Here in central Ohio that really works fine - we just don’t get that much snow here compared to other cold locations.
