The "what the hell is this?" thread

Post by Einsteiger » Sun May 10, 2020 9:38 am

I hesitate to post this due to the expected volume of virtual abuse, but I found two of these in the frunk today while doing a little clean up:

My guess is jack point blocks but I've not crawled under the car to see. They are plastic, but fairly thick. Always a new mystery with this car.

I'd planned a long drive today up Hwy 5 in Kansas, but then I remembered today is Mothers Day....oops.....maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first day of Phase One of our Governor's FOUR phase plan to open the state....assuming there will be any small business left to patronize. Her plan will take about two months. Ridiculous. But then...so is she. :) [ban me for political rants if you will - I'll just retreat to R-List :)]

Nothing I've ever seen in relation to our cars.

Thanks. Probably some kind of packing from something the previous owner had in there.

If I can summon the ambition, I'll try to see if these fit into the jack ports underneath.

EDIT: just went to the garage. These slip right into the jack port opening on the frame, and with a half-turn they stay put. NOW I find these.

They must be aftermarket because Porsche would have stamped a part number of some kind, somewhere. No markings at all from what I found.

Yeah I was gonna suggest looking for a P/N. Porsche put P/Ns on the airbag stickers, so I would agree that they are 3rd party.

They sound nice though, too bad there isn't any identifying info :(

There were only two, unless there are two more hiding behind the spare tire. Naturally I already bought a set of jack port plugs a year or so ago, but these others are cool because with a slight twist, they stay put so you can position the jack.

I also found a decent Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver in the frunk. Next step is to remove the spare to see what else is tucked away in the Mystery Frunk

If you find my big bag of money I left in the car just mail it to me.
