From reading OB2k's post again reminded me of the 1964 VW bug I owned way back when. I carried a wrench in the car and once away from my parent's house I would jump out and pull the two chrome resonators pipes off the end of the exhaust system. It was a sweet-sweet sound! Popping, growling and gurgling. Today I would hate it but, HELL, I was an 18 yo yute and I can't remember that many panties flying off! Well there were a few but I don't think it was because of the car...more about the era.

My old Golf scared the shit out of me and a buddy one time. As I was making a corner the exhaust pipe just before the cat let go. The miles I had to drive before I could get it fixed were probably the most embarrassing in my entire life.

God that car was a POS. In that case the pipe had rusted through and it was only a 3 year old car! I've never had to replace a muffler on a car before or since much less had it's pipes rust through. Trim parts would literally fall off driving down the road. It was terrible.

I bought a chambered exhaust for the Corvette years ago. My muffler guy agreed to build me an x-pipe to replace the resonator to go with my "new" Exotic Muscle headers - so I chopped out everything from the engine block back, installed the long-tube headers, installed the new exhaust, and drove it to the muffler shop with nothing connecting the headers to the exhaust. It was the longest three-quarter mile drive of my life...past the police station.

Starlink satellites streaked across the sky above Lincoln on Thursday -- and they should be visible Friday, too.

Seems China is less than enamored with Elon Junk. Next step will be "defensive" lasers installed to deal with all the additional junk getting flung in the air by Ol' Smokey.
Chinese citizens slam Musk online after space station near-misses

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese citizens lashed out online against billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk's space ambitions on Monday after China complained that its space station was forced to take evasive action to avoid collision with satellites launched by Musk's Starlink programme.

The satellites from Starlink Internet Services, a division of Musk's SpaceX aerospace company, had two "close encounters" with the Chinese space station on July 1 and Oct. 21, according to a document submitted by China earlier this month to the U.N.'s space agency.

"For safety reasons, the China Space Station implemented preventive collision avoidance control," China said in a document published on the website of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.

The complaints have not been independently verified. SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I wonder if he chose the "orbital delivery" option and it burned up in re-entry.
