I wander the line between wanting a 'project' car with a low cost of entry up to having a more practical daily driver and moving the 996 to project/weekend car. In that spectrum, I spend hours looking at sites for things along the lines of a mid-to-late 70's Alfa Romeo spider, or Fiat 124, or Triumph TR6, or MG anything. Or late model VW Jetta/Passat Wagons. Or early 80's Toyota Land Cruisers. Or early Cayennes (lots of time spent on that path, and almost pulled the trigger once or twice). The list goes on.
Depending on the day, I want something I can make my own. Or something that is automatic because I'm tired of that damn stick in SoCal commuting traffic. Or something that is stick because automatics are for p*ssies. Or something that can get a bike or surfboard on or in. Or something that can haul stuff from Lowe's/Home Depot/Costco. Or something even less practical than the Porsche. Etc, etc.
Automotive schizophrenia.
All that said, I love my 996. By far my favorite car I've owned. I have a hard time seeing myself without it. It's in good shape and doesn't need a lot right now, but maybe a partial suspension refresh (and a new starter). Back to the indecision. Is it my project car? Is it my daily? Aaaagh! What do I do?

Does spending 5 hours of my workday on here and Rennlist (dammit) count?KoB wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 5:46 pmLOL ... YMMV, but somehow all that extra time never exactly materialized for me. Might’ve worked out differently if I hadn’t told Mrs. KoB that I was going to retire. You might be able to make it work for a few years if you retire, but keep leaving the house every day like you’re going to the office. Once she catches on, you’re doomed.kcattorney wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 1:13 pm I know that when I retire, I'll have time to muck around with a car collection.

Had to resize pic. Schnelly, attachment size is too small.
