The Cherokee is dead. Long live the Grand Cherokee
The 4-banger Cherokee is getting traded at noon. Paperwork is all did.
We bought the '17 Cherokee Limited 4x4 for $22K (CPO) w/ 20k miles...put 40k miles on it over 2 years, got wrecked twice (rear-ended on the freeway - month-plus in the shop)...and still got $14K for it.
"New" ride is a '19 CPO Grand Cherokee 4x4 w/ 15K on it, mostly loaded (no driving aids, no nav), 2 more cylinders, another 100 torques and horsepowers. Bigger wheels, meatier tires, better transmission. Cautiously optimistic.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

What is it that doing the same thing and expecting a different result indicates?
I didn't know it was possible to get anything over $20k (new) without a nav system anymore!mostly loaded (no driving aids, no nav)
How about the battery terminals?Bigger wheels, meatier tires, better transmission. Cautiously optimistic.

Re: The Cherokee is dead. Long live the Grand Cherokee
Our 2007 Grand Cherokee has been in North Carolina for the past month with my daughter, at school. We got our GTI back for now. So far so good on the GC after 10+ years of ownership.
Got to put tires on the GTI today. Best deal I found was Costco, replaced the factory Bridgestones with Goodrich, the Goodrich was higher rated on Tire Rack’s site so we will see how they do. I’ve had good luck overall with Bridgestone tires but they got really noisy on the GTI as the tread wore...

Been down with a cold, so I've only been able to wheel the GC a bit - but in 4 low, it scampered up a double-track rock trail the Cherokee never managed.
The extra power does not suck at 7000'.

Re: The Cherokee is dead. Long live the Grand Cherokee
The differences between the '17 Cherokee and the '19 Grand Cherokee are not subtle.
I ran about 100 miles of fire road and double-track forestry trails over the weekend - blasted right up some stuff the Cherokee really used to struggle with. The 4500 pounds makes for a decent amount of heft; I'll admit that I smacked one or two rocks before I got the suspension travel figured out.
I took the GC on some of the same trails the X5 diesel never managed - the Jeep is about 1,500 lbs lighter than the BMW was; even with the diesel torque, it was just too damn heavy to scramble up some of the loose rock roads the Jeep handled with no problem.
I wasn't sure about going with a V6 instead of an 8 - or at least a turbo - but the thing pulls pretty hard when passing, even heading uphill above 7,000 feet.

Even with all of your state's warts pictures like that makes us flat landers jealous. Glad you are pleased with the GC.5chn3ll wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 10:02 am The differences between the '17 Cherokee and the '19 Grand Cherokee are not subtle.

It's certainly not luxurious, but it's a whole lot closer than the last Jeep.
No rattles - that alone is worth the upgrade.
