Fiero Month at KCAM

Post by 5chn3ll » Wed Jan 08, 2020 10:35 am

Saw on Der Facebook that it's Fiero month at the museum. My '88 Fiero was the first car I ever _accidentally_ spun.

I would buy another one if I came across the same car (non-GT with color-matched bumpers and spoiler) - it was a damn fine looking car, especially compared to the square MR-2 it was competing against. That Toyota was fugly.

Unfortunately, most of the Fieros I see are either trashed or have been kitted. Poorly.

Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

Except in SC form and I believe even in NA form the MR2 out accelerated the V6 fiero, and it didn't catch fire, and it was very reliable.

Mine was a 4-banger. The MR2 may have been faster, but it still looked like a turd squeezed from a square asshole.

As for reliability - my Fiero never caught fire. It was quite reliable except when I ran it out of oil and spun the bearings.

You're gonna have to work harder to troll me, Kalashnikov. :D I'm in a fantastic mood - Justin Bieber has Lyme disease and a terminal case of mono.

Minor correction - January is Scouting Month. We’ll host 25+ Pinewood Derbies for Cub Scout Packs, plus several Boy Scout Troops doing Overnight at the Museum where we teach them the Automotive Maintenance merit badge.

February is Fiero Month. I’ve owned two, both of which were 5-speed ‘87 GT models wearing Countach body kits. One of them was a lot of fun, but with a penchant for overheating. The other was in bad shape and I was in the middle of a multi-year, very costly overhaul when I finally pulled the plug and sold it as a project.

Fiero epitomizes everything that was and still is wrong with GM. The concept was fantastic, in GT form the 1986-1987 cars looked phenomenal...everything else was half assed by GM. Couldn't make it too fast with better motor, as it would than overshadow corvette. Couldn't do a better interior, couldn't do a better base engine.

If I remember right, the GT model had one of the fastest slalom times of its day. So the car had potential. I still really like the looks of GT, and the models with swapped 3800 series motors are screamers.
