Xbox for 10 yo grand son

As I said he plays Minecraft and is now wanting Roblox.

Make sure his parents look into Roblox closely. My son's friends play it and he really wants to, but I won't let him. They have had FAR too many incidences of child predators and general asshats (basically making animated porn) for my tastes.

The wife told me about the Creeper issues with Roblox so I'll confirm the parents are aware also. Thanks for the reminder.

FWIW I have also heard this about Roblox chats from other parents. Internet gaming is toxic in general... Name calling and toxic language is one thing and grooming is a complete other things. Minecraft has built parental protection options into their game that allows children to play online without the ability of being contacted.

I was aware of that function...shocking right!? The kid plays online only with his best buddy with everybody else blocked out. Apparently not available on Roblox.

Ok so I got the kid an Xbox One S. Now the daughter is asking about a game she might get him and looking for comments/critical reviews by you gamer types.

Any knowledge or opinions on: Forza Motorsport 7?

Any advice/comments/other suggestions welcomed

Halo games are a staple of Xbox platform. Forza is fun, but you really need the wheel to enjoy the racing.

I have a PS4 pro and total of.... 5 games counting two that came free with consoles. Grand Tourismo sport and Dakar 2018 is what I play on it.

A wheel might make it better, but I found Forza kind of hard. You can turn all the nannies on but you still have to win races to advance. I'm currently stuck on Forza 6 because I can't get win with my BMW 2002.

My son is 10 and all he plays is Fortnite on Xbox, which we think is fine. Yes, it has guns but the violence is cartoonish (in our opinion). Plus, its been great during the pandemic as he plays with friends so he's had some social interaction. We monitor his friends list and they are all kids we know. No "friends of friends" allowed.

Sports games are always a good bet. We play super mega baseball against each other, that is super fun. Rocket league is supposed to be super fun, haven't given it a whirl yet.

You also might think about gamepass, which gives you access to lots of games on a subscription basis. I haven't tried, but I'm guessing there are age filters you can apply. You never know what the kids are going to like until they try it.

Billy, Forza has a more casual game called Forza Horizon 4. Forza Motorsport is more of a simulation type game, which is why people are recommending a wheel. In Forza 7, he'd be racing circuits and turning laps like we are used to seeing on TV. Forza Horizon is more of a cruising around a simulated city & countryside, and challenging players to street races.

Not sure if he's a big circuit (NASCAR, Indy Car, F1, IMSA) type of racing fan, if he is then Forza 7 is definitely the way to go. If he is just into fast cars and car culture in general he will probably have more fun with Forza Horizon.
