Do we need to make his chair a header image?

This is from the very end of my first post in this thread:
At this point, I'm focusing on getting a '73 or '74 2.0 liter car in nice condition for sub-$20k. I'd prefer the fuel injection be intact, but wouldn't turn down a nice carb conversion. The dream color is Ravenna Green, but the other "Skittles" colors are in play. Cuda mentioned a couple of years ago that he might be willing to part with his blue 914, which fits the bill to a "t", but I suspect the value of his car has gone into the mid-$20k's by now. Anyway, I'm going to document the search in here. Feel free to ride along with me and make comments as we go. But fair warning, get comfortable - it might take a while.
Cuda - your blue one is beautiful and I'd love to have it. But, my budget isn't anywhere near what your car is worth. At least, not in the short term because the Bride of FRUNKenstein expects the entire house to get remodeled before I'll be able to spend more than about $10,000 or so on another car. If I haven't pulled the trigger on anything in the next 12 months, then my budget gets bigger. In the meantime, shoot me a number via PM. I seem to remember a number you sent me a couple of years ago, and the value of your car certainly hasn't gone down since then.

Hmm, here's a decent '74 1.8 liter car about 400 miles away (central Arkansas). Asking $8,500. Probably could snag it for $7,000. Just a driver, and not the 2.0 liter car I want, not really the color I want and certainly nowhere near the quality of Cuda's car. But . . . , at $7,000 I could almost certainly get that approved by the B of F. They aren't depreciating. Could probably keep it for a year or two and sell it locally, then upgrade to a keeper (like Cuda's blue car). Basically what I did with the '99 C4 aero, later bumping up to the Turbro. Thoughts?

Or, a '75 2.0 liter car with a recent engine rebuild, about the same distance, just north instead of south of me. Described as needing some TLC, but appears solid mechanically. Same owner for 22 years. Lots of service records. Looks to be in better shape than the above car. Asking $9,500, so figure an $8,000 purchase price.

Full disclosure - I know almost nothing about 914’s. But looking at the two pictures, the second one appears to be worth at least $1000 more than the first one. If it is a 2.0 liter car, even better.

The second one looks much better and has had significant work done. No pics of the possible rust areas unless I didn't look deep enough. Would you be good with the Bumblebee look?

Yeah, I think you’re correct, it would be $1,000 well spent.

Honestly, I am not real fond of the color. Ravenna green is my top choice (currently having the X1/9 painted that color). Then one of the bright oranges. Then the blue color of Cuda’s car.
