Here's a pic of my ex-shark. As my entry into Porsche ownership it was... a complicated mess. I could never get it to idle right, and there were always two or three critical jobs that needed doing at any one time. The PO basically parked this thing for years, I think. I enjoyed it, but I'm having more fun with the 996.

Oh, there is definitely a reason that I put 10 or more miles on the 996 for every mile I drive the 928. But, once sorted, they aren't bad. As a matter of fact, beginning mid-August, I am selling my DD Explorer to a family friend that needs a car, and I'm going to try using as my DD a mix of the 996, 928, 951 and an '88 E30 cabriolet. Not sure how long that will last before all 4 of them go tits up, but Imma gonna try.

Thanks for sharing the pic of your 928, Mike! Looks like navy over tan - a very nice combo.

True Story here.

My buddy has 2013/2014 A5 turbo. It was giving him troubles and he was approaching 90k miles. He asked me if I knew a good indy shop for Audis in Phoenix because dealer price tag for all required repairs exceeded the car value.

I gave him.... The Porsche indy shop # I used for my 996.

He called me a week later to buy me a beer and thank me for the awesome shop. He said those guys took care of the car and fixed everything at a fraction of dealer cost. Told him he is good for next 20k miles.

Oh, it was definitely a fun car to drive. My wife even liked it a lot more than the 996 because she said its smoother. I just couldn't get in it without thinking I was breaking something. The final straw was tearing the meniscus in my knee while I was taking the back calipers off. That's not the cars' fault, but I was just done. While it was up for sale, the odometer stopped working. Ha ha!

Ocean Blue over tan. A nice color, very similar to the 996 I eventually bought.
