Have you driven one?

Interior and quality wise, they are miles away from the 996 and 997. However, they are much bigger and have much more digital feel.

Also, owning one outside the warranty would be beyond foolish.

The depreciation hitting the new Porsche is the same depreciation that was wrecking the high end Mercedes, BMW and Audi cars for the last 20 years, as those brands went high tech/no diy route earlier.

You will lose your ass even if ONE major thing fails on your 991. And I am not talking about engine here.

I would like to disagree with you, Kalash.

But, I own a high-mileage Audi A8L that is currently sitting in my driveway on its bumpstops. So . . .

Yeah, that was a crazy deal. We didn't talk about it in the local PCA at all.
Just out of curiosity, why?

This is where magic of Dash Cam comes in, along with another hidden camera to look inside the car. Privacy laws aside, this is a CYA measure and in today's world it is a 100% necessity. Forward facing dash cam serves as a deterrent, hidden dash cam serves as the evidence in case your "driver" tries to destroy the SD card in the original camera after the crash.

What does that mean, in English, with respect to that car?

I don't deign to speak on Kalashnikov's behalf, but one of the gems in that whole destroyed car saga was that the ECU was wiped, presumably to destroy any evidence of (likely felonious) reckless driving. While some amount of CCTV footage of the hooning jackwagon was discovered, the ECU was completely clean.

Correct. And predictably, the sh*t-head shop owner completely disappeared on the car's owner. If owner didn't have a high profile lawyer and DV expert working for him, he could have been in deep sh*t.

Additionally, if he had a dash cam it could have served as a deterrent to shop owner joy riding the car in the first place. Or if shop owner was especially stupid and drove the car anyway, then owner would have immediate and indisputable proof of his abuse. It is hard to argue against the video evidence. No amount of BS or stories flies.
