They did the same thing with the current generation Camaro. The car was really hard to see out of compared to other generations. The door height came above your shoulders. I couldn't raise the seat to compensate or my head would touch the roof. I'm a tall guy. Didn't have the problem with the 996, but you can clearly see where Porsche lowered the top roof line. Interesting.

Although the roof is lower, there is actually more headroom, in part due to a redesign of the sunroof.

Interesting that, despite many differences, there is no mistaking that they are the same model of car. Evolution vs. revolution.
I think I took that pic the first week I owned my 996, and stupidly didn't know it was a foe paw to have it up in pix.

Driving with the spoiler up is like hanging your high school tassel from your rear-view mirror or wearing cowboy boots in public from 1990 onward: you feel pretty cool right up to the point where someone explains just how uncool you really are.

I get it - cars with aero are cooler than cars without. :D

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

Great write up & comparison. There is no denial from me that the 991 does look sexy.

Thx! Should I remove the high school tassel from the rear view mirror?

So Mike, where does one put their phone in a 991?

Ha! There's a whole phone thread right now on the 991 forum. Other current topics include whether or not a golf bag will fit in the back without having to first remove the driver from the bag, 14-way vs 18-way seats, and whether or not a door sill light can be added. Crazy stuff I tell ya. Just crazy.

Oh, and the dreaded warped door panel issue thread.

Erghhh!!! Just checked. Newest 991 forum topic is a guy asking for a photo of a 2019 991 key, so he can have a custom key case made by his tailor that is more "snug" than the O E M one. My brain is melting there. Gray poupon, indeed.

Well, it's apparent that 991 owners will go to great lengths to wring every last ounce of performance out of the platform.
