Just joined 996Outpost and wanted to introduce myself. I recognize many of your members on that "other forum site" all of which were those that truly helped out when in need. I purchased my first (and until recently) my only Porsche. In 1982 I got a 1974 Porsche 911 from a dealer for $11,500.00. I had to sell the car a couple of years later and to this day have missed it tremendously. So I started to look for another one only to find that the price was ten fold from what I paid (had no idea how popular those older air cooled Porsche's were), Well since I could not afford one I found myself a very clean 2004 996 C2 Manual with 50K miles and with all records from 1st day. After 1 1/2 years of driving it, putting more than 15K miles on it, am not only hooked again but find it to be much more fun to drive than my old one (from what I can remember) . Upon reading several posts, and to have piece of mind, I decided to do the IMS and RMS upgrade and since was into it had the clutch and flyweel replaced within a couple weeks of getting it.

The car is Atlas Grey w Graphite Grey interior, Sport seats, Sport shift, Bose Premium, aluminum package, Fister exhaust, Kinesis F110 wheels. Fun to drive and look forward to hearing stories, getting ideas and help and offering same on this site.

Texcwa - great looking, clean Mk II 996 C2! Seal gray has always been one of my favorites along with the wheels you have on it. Sport seats are a big bonus and pretty rare for that version of 996. It sounds like someone ticked off a lot of the nice options boxes when that car was built. Welcome to the Outpost!

Texcwa: Welcome, as well. Remember you from the "other" place. This is just starting but going well. Glad you're here!

EPiK is the name I use on pretty much every forum...and there are a bunch over the years

This is my first 911, 1999 Carrera 2 factory ordered LSD 220 car, one of the first out there, with a 3/98 prod. date. The GT3 add ons were done at least 2 owners ago, it was a TX car at the time and the IMS and clutch were done then about 10k miles ago. I picked her up last month in Wilmington, NC and since then have been going thru it.
Already had on it..for better or worse.
-GT3 aero front bumper and sides
-GT3 wing and decklid
-GT3 8.5/11 wheels
-H&R Sport springs
-Bilstein HD shocks/struts
-FabSpeed muffler bypass tips
-Pioneer AVH double DIN with Bluetooth
-3 spoke OEM airbag wheel
-updated headlights (no amber)
-smoked LED taillights.. (growing on me)
171k miles

Since I've had it
-new spark plugs.. NGKs
-coolant flush, new thermostat, new heater and coolant hoses and proper pink coolant now (wp was newer and good condition so I left it)
-new MAF
-installed K&N intake that came with the car
-new frunk seal
-new frunk finisher plastic (around latch)
-new Mahle fuel filter
-built catless exhaust system with Borla ProxS muffler and FabSpeed tips
-brake and clutch switches to get cruise functioning
-OEM 997 GT3 bumper vent inserted into front bumper.. center rad coming eventually
-Japanese market Enkei RC5 Carrera hollow spoke wheels.. 18/8.5, 18/10

future plans..
-tomorrow install the new oil filler tube to replace the ancient one I broke
-remount and seal aerokit skirts to the rockers of the car
-modify the front wheel wells/radiator back plates to vent the radiators
-build/fab diveplanes onto the front bumper to compliment/counteract the downforce from the GT3 wing.. front end lifts at speed right now
-build/fab/buy a front lip..see above
-probably design another exhaust..always into something
-drive as much as possible, took it to Amelia Island on a 800 mile round trip just after getting it for the PCA Werks Reunion with my 10 yr old

Former shop owner, mechanic, fabricator.. now putting people back together after they make bad decisions at odd hours. Surgical Tech 3rd shift in Level 1 Trauma Center.

Jeff

Looking forward to hanging out here.. you guys crack me up so far.
