Back in the 80's the Nebraska Air Guard flew F4's and when two or three of them took off to the south over the shop I worked in rattled all the windows in the place. It was awesome! One powerful "Brick".

The F-111... the wife and I had a low level close encounter with an F-111 west of Clovis, N.M. once. I think they were using us as a moving target drill. They were successful. Scared the crap out of Jeanne even though I saw him coming and warned prior to the roar. It was awesome! Great airplane!

Although I didn't fly an FB-111, I can confirm for you that, yeah, we do that sometimes.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 7:10 pm The F-111... the wife and I had a low level close encounter with an F-111 west of Clovis, N.M. once. You want a clean colon? Have a fully armed Apache pop up over the ridge of the hill in front of you at 7am when you are still half asleep. Had that happen when I was working at Fort Belvoir for awhile. Not sure how I kept the car on the road...32wildbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 7:10 pm Scared the crap out of Jeanne even though I saw him coming and warned prior to the roar.
The wing of A-10s at Fort Drum when my dad was stationed there were the best though. About once a week three of them would fly in formation about 300' over our house. THAT will wake you up in the morning

Qualcomm Stadium continues to be ground up and hauled away. While the structure has always been a bit of a brutalist eyesore, I've had a lot of fun here over the years. SCCA and PCA autocrosses, RaceLegal 1/8 mile drag races, Sky Show, ballgames, even a Monster Truck Jam and a demolition derby over the years...
Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.
Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

Is there a place for those activities to move to? Besides the ballgames, of course.

Re: Good Week @ 996Outpost.com
They were being very sneaky. We were the only car on the road between widely space ridges on either sides of the hiway. Jeanne was driving so I was sight seeing and just happened to catch a glint of sunshine off of something shiny when he dropped over the ridge. He was a ways out and I couldn't see him for a quite some time. I began to see a speck coming at a 90 degree angle to our car. Couldn't tell what it was until he was about 1/2 mile out low and coming fast. I had time to slide the sunroof cover back and say to Jeanne "don't be startled, but..." when the thunder struck! He had timed it perfectly! Right over the top of us! Jeanne freaked and I was screaming "HELL YEAH!!!" It was as cool as a "sneak by" at a Blue Angels show. I wanted to call the base at Clovis and ask for another "flyby". In addition I don't think he was following any attitude restrictions...

We do that too. Carrier airshows at sea are the best. There's nothing like standing on the flight deck at 60 feet above see level and looking down on an F-14 as he does a flyby at 500 knots.32wildbilly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:06 am In addition I don't think he was following any attitude restrictions...
