So you fear he might have no fear or understand his own mortality? Could be a dangerous combination. Are you going to sit in the right hand seat?
Yeah, I think he learned a lesson from it. He wasn't dumb enough to buy another motorcycle so there's that. He's my kids' karate instructor for the past 6 (holy shit, 6!) years and we've become pretty friendly. He could literally kill all of us in about 12 seconds if so inspired so I know he has the discipline necessary to be very very good so long as he understands what he doesn't know. He also got a ticket a few years ago for jumping off a bridge in Austin (this is apparently a thing) so he does have some risk taking tendencies.
Karate: Good for discipline
Round kicks to the head: Not so much
Let's hope he learned how to block early or wore good headgear!

I can't wait. A little concerned. He's in that elite group of motorcycle owners who owned a functioning motorcycle for less than 24 hours.....

Wait. I didn't know you've sat in DT's passenger seat on the track too. We should start a support group!

A support group would be good. Not me, Smart Ass! I meant to say, which I said poorly, will DT ride in the passenger seat while Mr. Miyagi drives his new Type R on the track.

Yes I know :P

I'm saying that DT has no room to talk about how crazy someone else might be on the track. You did notice that he replaced the seats after I rode with him...

Easy on the corners, Hammond.

That reminds me, the most recent episode of The Grand Tour has a couple of interesting bits. (season 3, episode 7)
First, it features a Fiat X1/9 on a cross-country trip (along with 2 other Italian classic cars). I have a soft spot for the X1/9 since I had one in high school. The damn thing did pretty well.
Second, and more relevantly, they tried to get all 3 of the old Italian cars to "drift", with absolutely no luck from any of them. So, they fitted one car with some "drifting tires", which were basically wide plastic hoops that fit over the regular rear tires. The, it being The Grand Tour, since they didn't have any drifting tires to fit the X1/9 and the other car, they cut up plastic barrels and made some for them. The results were pretty funny. Apparently much like Cuda's track day.

Drift covers could be exceptionally fun on the Corvette...I'm not sure I want to bang the 996 off the limiter quite that much.

Got it home today! Through the slush and frozen streets. The Pcar has a new cellmate.
