Mrs. Schnell refuses to adopt the correct vernacular and refers to them as "fart cannons" from time to time as she knows that irritates me. That's love right there...

Other night herd a pop on the Saab when pulling out of work...thought it was making noise from the front. To my surprise this greeted me.

Heh - one of my sales reps was going on and on about how she was gonna get a Saab - and then she FINALLY bought a Saab...but a modern one (read: a Malibu re-badged as a Saab). I referred to it as her Malibu for the duration of ownership, which was disappointingly short from my perspective but seemingly interminable from hers.

What's that orange residue on the metal parts of your car? It looks very strange, like some kind of disease or parasite.

I think you are pointing out the 2Fe2O3 8-)

Great cars, but they go crazy in these parts throwing down salt/magnesium chloride eats everything.

It must be awesome working on cars there. Doesn't look like you'll need any wrenches or sockets. Just a good air hammer and torch. :D

Step 1 always involves pushing the torches over to the work area....normally seems to gain compliance from then on out. Was taught that trick by my buddy that always found the rustiest British cars possible. He simply stated to start "To be successful working on cars in the New England you push the torches next to the car to strike fear into anything not wanting to come out. Then you push the welder over to ward off broken manifold studs."

Seemed to work 50% of the time every time. Looking back at it, every time it did not work either the torches were empty or out of argon.

The H&R springs for the Saabs are a little funky, they can only go on 1 way...the mounts normally drop out the little plastic ball bearings and then the spring starts to twist and then fails. Bearing was fine on this one.
