Spoiler Rises When I Start The Engine

Post by rfo1 » Sun Feb 07, 2021 6:41 am

On a few occasions the spoiler will rise when I start the engine. Maybe my 996 is telling me that I am a wuss and drive too slow ?
If I turn it off the spoiler lowers.

When the engine is running have you tried the the button that controls whether it is up or down to see if it will go back down?

By chance, did you have a Blue Chew fall out of your pocket when you were driving it?

That's a new one on me. How's your battery testing? Weird sh*t at startup always makes me squint at the battery...

I don't know what sensor(s) are involved with determining speed for spoiler deployment, but that's what I'd start Googling if the battery checks out.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

That's a new one. I would wager on something being wrong with the switch in the kick panel. Maybe its stuck or something. Or there could be something wrong with whatever tells the spoiler mechanism how fast you're going. Good luck!

Yeah, along those lines...maybe a previous owner wired up a spoiler remote switch and something is now wonky...

The battery was replaced about 6 months ago so I doubt that is the problem. If the problem continues I'll have the shop look at it next time it goes in for servicing. As I said earlier it is not happening very often and it will lower when I shut the key off. It is a 20 year old vehicle and is expected to have the odd glitch I think.

Really? There is nothing else you'd blame?

Back in 2016 you had another idea for weird electrical issues a totally random person that I definitely don't know was having:
I guess nobody is thinking it's operator negligence? Someone will instigate this claim...Hurdi?
So good that only you got the joke

There were no vaguely incestuous photos, so I didn't immediately make a connection to Hurdi. As far as THE OTHER THING you're referring to - you can f**k right off. :D

I don't really like where this is heading. It feels like...pending regret.
