I got nothing for you, mang. I have yet to own a Mercedes...still not mature enough.

Understeer: You will hit the wall with the front end.
Oversteer: You will hit the wall with the rear end.
Horsepower: How hard you will hit the wall.
Torque: How far you will move the wall.

Gone hunting with Alec Baldwin and Dick Cheney. Back soon.

This thing drives pretty nice, outside of the brake issue. It's "sedate" lets say.

Could be something called the brake booster diaphragm sensor, which is what it says it is but seems entirely dumb. Germans.

I'm finally getting the parts needed to put this thing back together, should have the last part from Germany next week.
Welding done:

I had the fuel injectors cleaned and flow tested - they were not good before, they're perfect now.
I can't get the driver's rear axle out of the hub despite heating it with the oxyacetylene until it was red hot and using a 12-ton press. So I had to get a used wheel carrier/hub assembly and a used driveshaft. Annoying.
Now I just need that chain guide and I can retime & reassemble the engine.
Then a set of new turbos and I'll be ready!

Happy Day to all you Groundhogs on the Outpost. :) This week there has been a window of nice weather [dry] in between snow storms. I took out the 996 for a drive and a top-off with my favorite ethanol-free premium. The snow is supposed to come about Thursday, so now I can work some Leatherique into the seats and try to stave off the ageing process. If it works I may try it on my face.

Snow is the worst! So tired of it already. I'm really thinking about getting some black wheels for Brunhilde. Darker wheels really look good on cars with darker paint. Maybe some throwback Fuchs. I just have to figure out where to live when the wife throws me out.

Isn't Brunhilde a wagon? Fold down the rear seats and you should be able to get a small mattress in there

I call the 996 Brunhilde (goddess of war). The Mercedes Wagon is CrappenWagen or the battleship Bismark in mixed company.

Your point remains, I could sleep out in the wagon and get frostbite and the wife would think it appropriate if I spent $5K on new rims.

Attempted a post winterization start. I did not succeed :(

Things better than the last time I let the battery go flat:

1) I could get the alarm to shut up.
2) I could open the frunk (using the cable).
3) The jumper battery attempted to get it to start after having the jumpers to the BMW for 10 minutes to get enough power for the dash to at least light up.

Will have to try again later (probably tomorrow).
