They now make some pretty inexpensive (~$150) code readers that will reset airbag and ABS warning lights and work on multiple brands of vehicles. I bought one a year or so ago and it works on my 996tt. Autel is the brand I got. So, it's not an issue to reset a warning light.

Good idea. This is a 996. I’m going to be getting warning lights.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 12:38 pm Mike

Have pulled the steering wheel multiple times without pulling fuses or disconnecting the battery and never got an airbag light. I believe the trick is to not turn the key to the On position while an airbag is disconnected.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 12:33 pm Dumb question: I need to replace the airbag frame in the steering wheel to get the horn working again. Currently the fuse is out. If I don’t connect the battery while the airbag is unplugged, will I avoid an airbag warning light? When I changed my window regulator, I connected the battery to get the window adjusted but the airbag was still unplugged. Luckily, the local Porsche dealer turned off the warning light for free. That is no longer an option I don’t think.
Can this job be done without getting an airbag warning light? Or do I wait until I feel comfy visiting the dealer?

I think that's true. I got the airbag light when I changed the window regulator because I had to reconnect the battery with the airbag still unplugged. I think a code reader is my best option. Father's day coming!

Initial impressions of Porsche oil: the design of the cans is terrible. Impossible with the hole in the flat top to get all the oil out of a can. Also, very unpredictable as to how the oil will come out. Spilled more oil than I ever did with the current standard quart bottles. Doesn’t sound like a big deal but kind of frustrating. Not the most important thing about oil obviously.

Those look like the same type of cans that I buy mineral spirits in! I believe they are designed the way to make you spill more oil so you buy more. Or maybe it goes along with the "Classic" impression. You know like in the 1930's.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 9:18 am Initial impressions of Porsche oil: the design of the cans is terrible. Gotta say OB, that's a pretty extreme angle for oil draining. How do you get the car in that position and do you find it helps at all?

Listen I don’t know who’s in charge around here but I uploaded a pic, the website rotated it. I edited the pic to rotate it 90 degrees and then it didn’t rotate it. So I finally uploaded this one and it rotated this one and I gave up. That said, I did say I was getting oil every where.

Ain't nobody in charge around here.
