It's just a tape holder. Nothing more. Press the button and that holder pops out. If it's not working then either it's jammed or the springs have failed.

No power. No lights.

What looks like a light is just a window where a little red bit pops up when there is a tape in the holder.
Ok, so all four drawers are jammed. Even using the key to try and push the button, all I did was scratch it. So, little project when the weather’s warmer to remove and put a caddy in it something. Thanks for the help!
...but what if the drawers are jammed with $1,000 bills!!?

Then I would have paid the right amount for my car! Sort of related story: I bought my car in California and drove it from California to NJ. Best trip ever.

Let's just say we drove as fast as we felt was safe, and you can imagine in this car how fast this was. Somewhere in Oklahoma, we picked up a Range Rover that appeared to be drafting us. A couple of miles later, we got pulled over by three or four Sheriff's cars, who thought we were running drugs because apparently drug runners use two cars in case one gets stopped. I'd say we were stopped for a couple hours. At the end, one of the Sheriffs asked to search the car. I confidently said, "Absolutely!" After all, I wasn't doing anything illegal other than speeding.

But then I realized: I just bought this car! What if my previous owner was a drug addict? What if there was some cubby in there filled with pills? I didn't search it before I took off.

Thankfully, they didn't find anything like that and we were on our way at a significantly reduced speed. They still gave us a ticket though, that I split with my co-driver.

That would have been the classic scene: You: "...but that's not mine officer! I just bought the car..." Officer: "Sure you did... Put your hands behind your back. You're in a heap of trouble, boy!"

Today I had a meeting in Toledo (125 miles from home) and decided to give the P-car some exercise. Good drive, mostly freeway, but a little bit of twisty for fun. Cold as hell but no snow - roads were dry. Good way to burn a tank of gas. Also I feel like this may have reduced my balance of Raby Demerit Points for only driving my car 5 miles at a time.

Ha ha! We had a great time in Little Rock, actually. We found a bar with a ton of beers and met these German guys so we talked Porsches all night. They taught us Dusseldorf drinking songs.

gnat - it looks like you've got a cat in your neighborhood. It just hasn't figured out that the warm part is in the back.
