Pelican Christmas! I'll let you guys know if the car runs any different after I change the oil on the weekend. I guess the real test will be when I change it again and get the UOA back.
It is a pretty can.

Is this Porsche's go-to oil for the 996 now? Did they add the ZDDP that Mobil 1 took out? I love oil threads.....just as much as dental work.

One can is far away! Probably should have bought two 5L and not one 5L can and 4 1L cans, but this is what was in the pelican kit.FRUNKenstein wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 3:27 pm Maybe it's just me, but that one on the right looks bigger.

I only bought this because Porsche is now recommending 5w-50 for our cars now. It says it’s a high moly synthetic so whatever that is. I dunno, seems to me if the manufacturer thinks you should use a certain weight then maybe you should.

As soon as I use up all the DT40 that I have, I'll probably give it a try.OceanBlue2000 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 5:32 pm I only bought this because Porsche is now recommending 5w-50 for our cars now. You've still got about a quart of that stuff on my garage floor.Einsteiger wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 6:12 pm As soon as I use up all the DT40 that I have, I'll probably give it a try.

I assume you mean dental work without the appropriate amount of novocaine...Einsteiger wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 3:47 pm Is this Porsche's go-to oil for the 996 now? Did they add the ZDDP that Mobil 1 took out? I love oil threads.....just as much as dental work.

Re: What did you do to/with your 996 today?
Dumb question: I need to replace the airbag frame in the steering wheel to get the horn working again. Currently the fuse is out. If I don’t connect the battery while the airbag is unplugged, will I avoid an airbag warning light? When I changed my window regulator, I connected the battery to get the window adjusted but the airbag was still unplugged. Luckily, the local Porsche dealer turned off the warning light for free. That is no longer an option I don’t think.
Can this job be done without getting an airbag warning light? Or do I wait until I feel comfy visiting the dealer?
