October. Issue #751 page 120 :) Better to make it into Panorama this way than to be the guy that smashed his GT2RS into a Pagani. ;)

OK, stupid question: are there supposed to be two hood shocks or one? I have one currently installed, and it looks to my (newbie) eye that one is all that ever was installed. However, for my car Pelican Parts says two per car? I have needed new ones since I got the car. The first time I checked the oil the hood came down and almost knocked me out. But do I need two new ones, or just one?

My 1999 has two up front, ONE on the engine cover. I definitely had to replace it before suffering a cracked skull.

Yes, I want to be clear this is the hood over the engine, not what I would call the trunk (frunk) lid, which has also smacked me in the head.

Maybe Pelican is saying one goes up front and one goes in the back, that's why there's two? I assumed they meant two hood shocks on the one lid. That can't be the same shock on the frunk and the hood can it?

But it's good to hear I'm not crazy and there's only one on the engine hood.

Yeap my 01 has 2 as well. I don't know about the MkII cars, but as a 00 you should have 2 in the front and 1 in the back.

When I replaced mine in Sept I went with the Tuff brand from Warehouse 33 as they were significantly cheaper than the OEM option (and Warehouse 33 is still giving us a discount!). So far the car hasn't tried to take anyone's head off...

If you weren't planning on it already, I suggest doing all 3 at the same time. It never fails that days after replacing one another will fail.

My 2005(MK2) has two in the frunk and two on the engine hood. All four of mine were weak when I got the car. As I previously said my Indi found the engine hood strut weakness the hard way. I have found that weak struts manifest their issues when the weather gets colder. I would replace all I could find if questionable!

After I had 3m crystalline installed a few months ago, noticed a few swirl marks on the top of the doors. Decided to decon the whole car and do a light paint correction. Going to try out a Si02 ceramic coating from Adams. While polishing, I noticed my hood emblem was warped. Hood was fine, but just the emblem was warped. Not sure how that happened, and only just noticed it. While trying to remove it, the glue holding the emblem to the bolt let go, so then I decided to drill out the head of the bolt. Kind of nerve wrecking making sure I keep track of all the metal chips and not trying to scratch any paint. :?

I just ordered a bunch of struts from warehouse33auto.com the day before yesterday for various members of the hooptie fleet. 'Tis the season when weak struts try to kill you.

Warm day (sort of) in Columbus today, before the weather goes to shit tomorrow. So washed my car - it looks better in the garage anyway.
