I'm in the color change boat too...But my Po curbed the crap out of these. People just don't know how to park!
Ah thanks Bill! I have to get this leaking coolant expansion tank fixed and then I'll get some tires put on the wheels. The next big decision is whether to keep or sell the 19" Vossens. They're very unique wheels that get lots of attention, but I still have soft spot for the factory 993 18" Turbo Twists. Those wheels seem to really compliment the car. My second choice would be the BBS 5 point star wheels they put on the 996.

In the nutshell, the rears are about 29 lbs and the fronts are 25 lbs. You are definitely me tempting with those BBS. Those are some the lightest wheels Porsche put on the 996. When you think it through, send me a PM with what you want for the set. I'll spread the word around our Cars and Coffee events if someone mentions wanting some. That's how I found these wheels. :D

Here are the more detailed specs on the 993 Turbo Twists:

The solid spoke wheels are as follows:

Description:___________Part No:_______Dia_Width__Offset__Weight
Turbo 1 – solid spoke 993.362.134.06_18__7.5____50____ 24.9 lbs
Turbo 1 – solid spoke 993.362.136.01_18__8______52____ 25.6 lbs
Turbo 1 – solid spoke 993.362.138.01_18__9______52____ 29.1 lbs
Turbo 1 – solid spoke 993.362.140.03_18__10_____40____ 31.1 lbs
Turbo 1 – solid spoke 993.362.140.04_18__10_____65____ 29.3 lbs

The hollow spokes are:

Description:_____________Part No:_________Dia_Width_Offset_Weight
Turbo 1 – hollow spoke 993.362.134.05___18_7.5___50_____19 lbs
Turbo 1 – hollow spoke 993.362.136.00___18_8_____52_____19.6 lbs

thanks B. I can vouch that the 996 Turbo twists are just as heavy, and 1" wider in the rear. I have a set of those also. I'll send my contact info in PM

Getting ready for the now-annual post-Christmas big drive to SoCal and back in the 04 cabriolet. Leaving Dec 26th with my 25 yr old son. He's flying home from LAX on Dec 30 and is being replaced by my wife who's flying down to meet me. We have some amazing roads planned for the drive in both directions.

Pre-trip has included a new Garmin dashcam 55 wired in yay great driving videos, new gas struts for the frunk(enstein) yay a no more sore head, new headlight switch yay can see the dash lights at night, new lcd screen on climate control yay can see temp and vents (thanks 914 Rubber) and made some removable polycarbonate inserts for the wind deflector yay won't freeze to death with the top down en route. Had a full service and complete check over at my indie with a perfectly clean bill of health. Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ for road adhesion should work well for the entire temperature range and forecasted condition.

I've now Spent almost as much on maintenance than paid for the car in Mar 2015. Just turned over 185,000km and I've put on 130,000 of those. Many, many smiles per mile and worth every penny.

Yesterday I replaced the light bulb behind my clock / oil level pod. Not hard getting the pod off, the left hand side screw is a pain until I found my extendable magnet. Success! I can now tell what time it is.

The plugs behind the pod are not intuitive (you have to push a tab, then pull down on arms, which lets the plug come out), but once you do one, they are easy.

The microphone cover does not go all the way back in, so I am thinking of ordering a new one (one of the tiny, TINY tabs may have broke). I am expecting it to be $49.99 on Pelican.

I installed my Quick release steering wheel and then swapped in the factory tail lamps (thank God) Had to get new tail lamp harnesses for the lenses too. I can finally look at the back of my 911 and not cringe lol Next up is a set of 0/2 sensor emulators to see if i can get rid of my 491/492/420 Codes.... -_-
