I pealed off my less than enormous 2018 registration decal and replaced with with a new 2019 decal. The sticker cost $50 more this year. :(

I finally located the stealth installed V1 radar detector in my car. It was under the cover for the pop-up rollover bars in my 2000 Cab. I sent it off with $289 to Valentine One and they will send me a brand new one. That's a discount of $110 - not bad considering mine was about 18 years old. The new one is supposed to be better at filtering out false alerts from cars that have collision avoidance systems. The old one was always sounding.

Take it for a test drive and let us know how does with filtering those annoying K band false alerts.

I will. It will probably take a week to get the new one. I just sent off the old one this afternoon.

I swapped out the broken oil fill tube in my 99 C2.

I ended up having to pull the throttle body and the alternator in order to reach the bolts and socket I dropped. :x

While it was off, I cleaned out the manifold and TB, and wrapped a few vacuum hoses I need to order with colored electrical tape so I wont forget about them when I look in the engine bay. wrapping them will help seal them up in the mean time.

I took the alternator to Autozone and had it tested since it was off, and I found a hole in my serpentine belt from a rock so I picked up one of them also.

On the front end I installed a new headlight bucket on the drivers side since the old one was broken before I got the car. I discovered in the process that neither headlight was locked in place. They are now

To wrap it all up I reinstalled the GT3RS wing just before dark.

This was all on Thursday after working all night long and getting home at 7am. Today I had plans for more today but slept all day. 3rd shift is hard on the body.

Significantly better.

We have one about the same age as his and a second about 6 years younger. The difference in just that time frame was a massive improvement for K and Laser falses. If I still used it frequently I'd update it to silince the alarms from cars with LCA and adaptive cruise control.

I use a cheapo $70 detector. Popo out here almost always come in k-band at 2,3,4, while the annoying luxury car radar hits 8/9/10. Mostly the false alarms seem to come from newish cars and only up front, while radar will trigger the alarm from behind or in front.

The classic warning sign on a speed trap is 1, 2, 3, 3,3,3,3 on the k-band, where it stays until passing. I don't see many lasers out here in BFE. But the cheap detector has saved me from about a dozen insurance-adjusting infractions, knock on wood.

Removed the front bumper to clean the rads and once I got it off, it relieved a cracked passenger side air duct. It's busted beyond repair. I was going to buy one used, but most of the sellers on eBay want around $100 - $140 for the part. I was thinking I could get a boxster version, but the scoop is different than the 996 version and so I'm sticking with the right part - (996.575.322.03). Looked it up on Perimeter Porsche Parts and I can purchase it brand new for $126. Pays to shop around. ;)
