Every 6 months? Wow, you NA 996 guys are meticulous! I think the standard for the TurBros is once per year or 3,000 miles. Don't tell anyone, but I think I went an entire 18 months and 4,000 miles on my last oil change.

Annnnnnnd, here's the oil analysis. Pretty good!

Yep, looks like a pretty healthy report. Congrats!

Today was busy enough, but I made time to wash the 996; wheels and all. After last week’s rain, I HAD to wash off that grime before THIS week’s grime started accumulating. :) There was a brief window of no rain and sunshine…so far today we have a good chance of going a whole 24 hours without rain….but it’s going to start again tonight….for another week. I managed to get the car out for a decent warm up and a top-off with my favorite ethanol-free fuel.

So, first the wheels with an initial spray of Iron-X [which is great stuff, BTW] followed by a scrubbing with Chemical Guys Matte Car Wash.

Followed by a quick wash with Chemical Guys V07 wash soap. Trying to use that up. I remembered to get out my 'don't scratch anything' spray nozzle.

I have a new drying towel that is awesome. I think it’s a Gyeon towel that is designed to be pulled across the car, and I did the whole car in a minute or two with no H2O left behind.

At almost the exact time I finished drying the car, I heard the racket of dozens of birds gathering in the tree above the driveway…straight out of the Hitchcock movie. I know that they were gathering in ominous union to unleash their own down-pour. I managed to get the car back into the garage before they could organize the first salvo.

Now for a coat of my favorite stuff: Bead Maker. :)

Looks like Saturday PCA breakfast will be done in the rain. So, I'll just drive the 996TT again since it's already dirty. No sense in wasting 5 minutes and $3.00 at the car wash if ya don't have to. See you there Kevin!

Had a fun drive with some fellow PCA members last Sunday on my Gruppe J "The 5-EH!" route. Logged in 828km door to door and wound our way over some amazing roads. Driving the Truffle Hunter was a great choice for the day.

Changed the oil on both the 996 and the 924. Ignore the junk around the garage as we recently moved in and haven’t organized the garage yet.

I can’t wait until it arrives. Me and my southern buddies need to break it in. Ha!

It was ticking fairly loud as they loaded it up! So hopefully you mean after a new engine.

Replaced my front speakers. That sounds really easy, but it turned out to be a royal pain in the ass job. Just removing the speakers was interesting - my assumption is that they are installed at the factory before the windshield, so the back screw is almost impossible to reach. Ended up using a torx bit and a tiny set of slip joint pliers to get them out.

Then, you have to cut apart the existing speaker to save the ring that mounts to the grill and holds the speaker in place. This has to be glued to the new speakers, after removing the mounting tabs...

Very important tip - DO NOT get Gorilla Glue on your fingers. The first note in the U-tube video that I saw to remove the glue suggested to wear gloves and not get glue on your skin. Great...

Once the old mounting ring is glued to the new speakers, reassembled. First step so far so good. The old speakers were completely destroyed - literally no foam remained on the paper cones. Waiting on the rear speakers. At least now I know how to change them out so should go faster. Crutchfield was great, but certainly did not explain how much work it takes to adapt standard 4” round speakers to the Porsche grills / speaker mounts. At least I can use my radio again!
