All that white stuff

Post by B-ran » Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:51 am

Well since my search for a cheap old Land Rover Disco didn’t pan out well (I mostly just gave up after looking at a few that were just shit) and my car had already experienced some of the nastiness of winter, I decided to just power through and drive her the rest of the winter. As much as it pains me to see it covered in salt and crap, I do get a certain amount of pleasure out driving my car through the winter and getting all the weird looks from people in plows and pickup trucks when they see a little old 911 tootling along in the snow.

That being said, it can be downright butt puckering terrifying sometimes. In actual snow it’s okay. Slow but predictable and easy to manage. In the somewhat plowed but heavily salted slushy crap, I’m white knuckling the steering wheel as the rear end decides it LOVES to dance in the slick slimy shit cocktail. I feel like I’m in one of those old timey movies where the show the driver moving the steering wheel a silly amount while just going straight.

The other day we got several inches of snow, and my thirty five minute commute was well over an hour, but my coworkers just looked and said “I can’t believe you drove that car through all of THAT!”

The mighty 911 defeats another weather storm of doom!! Now just have to hope and pray and sacrifice small animals so that my cyclinders don’t score in all this ungodly cold...

What voodoo did you use to get this very accurate footage of me driving?

Why thank you KC! But you should know, and I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but I don’t swing that way...

These two things are so opposite I can't even get them to go in the same quote together.

I'll be thinking of you through April, B-ran. Be safe out there. It is worth it for those gorgeous black-car-on-snow shots 8-)

KC, where is that pic of the car you were supposed to sell me?

This is a very nice static shot, but that was an awesome action shot you had.

Well.......this isn’t the kind of white stuff I was expecting. You will have to excuse me as we don’t really see that kind of white powder in Houston.
