FRUNKenstein wrote: Tue Apr 21, 2020 10:22 am It helped that you put a lot of effort into the auction, also, B3. The videos were good. You were responsive. Yes, Raby helped a lot and his willingness to post in your auction was major. But, it is also a really nice car with relatively low miles. All those things together resulted in a nice sale price. And the buyer should be really pleased with what he is getting. As they say, "There's no such thing as a cheap Porsche."
Thank, you KC. I tried hard to be as transparent as possible given the constraints of the confined online world we live in right now. It would also be easy to cover things up on the cosmetic's end (I do know a thing or two about Photoshop.... hehehe), but I would rather be truthful now than later when the person is picking up the car after paying for it. But again, I thank you for jumping in with your vote of confidence. Aside for all the teasing and jokes I like to pull here on the forums, I'm pretty much a straight shooter.

Oh btw, Rennlist just did another write up on the Focus On: M9X Engine Assembly. I wanted to tell Jake to request an edit to the text - adding, "And it's produced by b3freak, the man we banned for a lifetime here on Rennlist"

Ha, that's funny. Actually, if it came from Jake and he said it to one of the IB staff who actually gets paid, I'd be willing to be that they would un-perma-ban you. I'm 99.9% certain that the paid staff could not care less what their unpaid mods are doing, and even less that they piss off the unpaid mods.

Frankly, I'll bet that if you got to know one of their paid staff and relayed the entire Good Week situation over a beer, they'd be pissed off because I'm certain the paid guys want to do everything they can to drive traffic to the site. Killing that thread was beyond idiotic when viewed from simply a "we need more traffic" standpoint.

Personally, It's because of Flat 6's work on the car. If the IMS bearing had not been swapped out, I believe the car wouldn't have gone for more than $22,000.
Your car was mechanically excellent, which seems to be the hot button with 996’s on BAT. Today a pretty nice looking white 2002 Cabrio with 60k miles sold for $19,996. Seemed low, as it had all the normal stuff done too. But if I needed a car right now I would have been all over yours.

Well, I guess this is as good a time as any to introduce myself as buyer of said Cabrio. BTW, thank you b3freak for introducing everyone on BaT to this forum, as it kicks ass from what I can tell.

This is my 4th Porsche. The bug started with an '88 924S, then an '84 944, then '02 996 Coupe (purchased from BaT) and now this '02 996 Cab that I haven't even picked up yet. Pics to come when I do! Trying to figure out logistics as I didn't even expect to win the thing! Haha

I will be in the Colorado Springs area, and I like to drive. If anyone here is within 250 miles or so, I'd be happy to meet as long as you're not a serial killer.

Cheers, everyone!

Wow - nice deal! I have $22k in my '99 after doing all the mechanical stuff which is not anywhere close to as nice as the white one you just bought. I was amazed that one sold for under $20k with IMS/RMS/Clutch etc done. Very impressed with your buy, especially after the green cabrio one sold last week for $27k.

Cheers! Congrats on the purchase. This is a great little social club for 996 owners. One of the only places where it's safe to blast people for having traditional headlights. :D :D

It's been a while, but WOW :o . At the end, looks like auction went pretty well.

Thanks for all your help in the past b3freak! I know you will be back in 1 soon.
Yea, I'll be back in another one... I hope at least. Regardless... I'm sticking around the Outpost and helping Raby out with video when needed.
Son of a...! I saw the F6I message and looked at the car but didn't read any of the comments so didn't know it was yours. You did good on the sell I hope you were happy.
Never gonna make you cry...

Damn - a pretty nice 1999 cabrio, six speed with 101,000 miles just sold on BAT for $16,500. Brand new top and hydraulics. Looked to be a pretty nice car. Apparently there are some COVID deals out there right now.
