Hadn't driven a stick in nearly 20 years and drove it home like a champ. Drives nice. I guess I just added another car to bust knuckles on.. Oh, Meridian Metallic if you were wondering. (Doesn't everyone have a water heater sitting in their driveway??)
$5800??? Wow, I think you got the deal of the century on a boxster! Congrats!!!

pcasanova wrote: Fri Jul 06, 2018 11:39 am I would totally be interested in this. Does anyone know, if Car had the factory "hard top delete" option, does this mean I cannot put a hard top on?
kcattorney wrote: Fri Jul 06, 2018 6:46 am https://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/d ... 36349.html

Dark blue hardtop for $500 in case anyone is looking. Located about 5 minutes from me if anyone wants me to have a look.
Depends on what year car you have. If it’s a 996.1, you’re probably good to go. Somewhere in the 996.2 run, they stopped putting the receiver hardware in “hard top delete” cars.

I second that. That's change you find in your couch cushions kind of money.

Or, the-kind-of-money-Mrs-KoB-wants-to-spend-on-a-new-couch kind of money. But I agree, that’s a great deal on a really good-looking Boxste.

That's how it ended up joining the pack. We went to "have a look". Made a deal, and she drove it home the next day. Thanks for the comments, she's super happy. Now for vario cam pads, a clutch, and IMS. "cheap Porsche", at the expense of my knuckles lol.

For any of you fellas thinking 996TT, here are a couple of interesting options.

First, a 112k mile 996TT just came on the market in Omaha yesterday, link is to the Kansas City Craigslist ad:

Asking $42k, which IMO is about $5k to $7k too high for the mileage. But, it is has a lot of desirable mods and a fantastic color combo (black over natural brown). It is in WildBilly's neck of the woods, so maybe he might know the car.

Second one that just came on the market is the 170k mile tiptronic that was posted in here a few months ago. It got snapped up in a day or so by nelsontod, who is a member here and on Rennlist (dammit). nelsontod has done a lot of work on the car fixing minor issues, but now wants to move on to a 997TT. I'll let him jump in and post more info if he wants, but he has a reasonable ask, and it has a nice color combo in silver over Metropol Blue interior. Very pretty car, and based on the threads he's started, he has enjoyed it. Like any car with that kind of mileage, it has a few warts, but overall appears to be a nice driver. Plus, it's a chance to get into a 996TT for the price of a NA 996 at an asking price of $29,500. And given the reports of lots of 996TTs with way higher mileage than 170k (including at least one of over 500k miles) without needing a rebuild, I really wouldn't be that scared of the mileage. If you are interested, I'm sure you could send nelsontod a PM.

Yeah, I don't know this car. Not unusual though Turbros don't normally 'ssociate with us pedestrian types with an NAs! From the one pic pretty sure he belongs to the PCA club as it appears to be from an outing they did this spring.

Bill - maybe if you've got the time, you go lay eyes on it and do an OutpostFax for us? I've posted it over on Rennlist (dammit) also, so it would be worth the seller's time to let you take a look at it and maybe even a test drive so that we can post more info on it the forums. Lots of potential buyers stalk these threads. Just sayin', as you mentioned never having seen a 996TT in person, would be a good excuse to go check one out. It is a 996 after all, so you're going to feel right at home behind the wheel. (just hold the hell on when you plant your right foot on the floor! :o   )
