Hey Doc,

Yea, I think most people will agree that if you put the aero rear wing, you should match it with either the Aero front bumper or install a lower lip spoiler. Hawk's GT3 style lip spoiler can be purchased on eBay for around $300. But of course, it comes unpainted. That would easily add the Aero look and near performance without the expense. If you didn't want to fork out the money for a true Aero OEM bumper, then you could always go with a Duraflex. But be mindful that many of the aftermarket bumpers like Duraflex are NOT the same build quality and are usually made with cheaper materials created from a mold of the OEM original which means fitment may be perfect.

Thanks b3! I was eyeballing the Getty design piece as well - http://www.gettydesign.com/996tailbases ... splitters/

My dilemma is my wing is fake, too, and I suspect my side skirts are fake as well, so the question I ask myself is do I want to make a big ol' fake sandwich or do I want to start saving to do this properly. (Fake bits are PO's fault.)

I know lots of people use the price of car vs. price of mods argument, but I have my own justification for my insanity and the money is not my major concern. I know that statement reads a bit braggadocious, but, this is my forever car. I came of age during the 996 era so I am in the rare camp of people who lusted after a 996, headlights and all. Rationality is out the door. If it takes 2 years, so be it, my heart kind of wants to do this right.

You have to be careful with bumpers to make sure you aren't getting a damaged one, but if you want to upgrade to a real wing you should check the used market. They come up from time to time significantly cheaper than buying new. You just have to make sure you aren't picking up a real GT3 wing as the air inlet is not compatible (though I believe people have made it work).

^ Oh I know. I know.

My wife. DOES NOT.

Plus I have to paint it. At that point I'll weigh my options but I'm sure I'll have to blend and that's even more $$$. I told you, I'm insane.
