I still see grooves, you got another couple thousand miles to go!!!
Re: Opinions: time for new rears?
Some people pay good money to shave down new tires. I can provide this service to Outpost members, but my proprietary system requires several months and is limited to a very specific range of tire sizes (coincidentally, the same sizes I run!).

very nice score you got with the add-ons..ElSchnell wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 8:57 am Nope - previous owner included the suspension in his quest to spend as much money as possible on a 996. Near as I can tell, he spent $15-20K transmogrifying his '99 C4 into a GT3. Every once in a while I find yet another hidden upgrade, like the Turbo Mike (now IPD) plenum I found while replacing the starter.
All of that work, and he didn't change ANYTHING in the interior. 100% stock. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck tracking down the P.O. - I'd send him a fruit basket. Or a gift certificate for his hooker of choice.
when I got my 99 C2 that was GT3styled, in the docs for the IMS/Clutch I have the owners name at that time. I'm not sure if he is the one that modified the body with the GT3 rear decklid..etc. What I do know, the car was in Texas at the time, and the owner's first name was Race.. I shit you not.. what is the etiquette on writing this dude a good old fashioned letter to obtain more info on the car's history? Would you reply to said letter if it were you?

I would. I found a piece of the P.O.'s mail when I purchased my 986, but I never wound up needing to contact him.
