Autohaus Hamilton Tech Night - Porsche 996 common problems

Post by B3DAWG » Thu May 10, 2018 6:05 am

Nice video with some good information, but never mentioned the IMS issue. Common problems? Really and no mention of the IMS. Maybe there is a longer version to this video? Or I skipped over something? :?:

Thoughts?

Well, as the video title shows, at least they identified the scoured cylinders prob.

I appreciated the line "I'm not trying to harp on them and say these are bad cars, because they're not, they're actually quite a good car."

When discussing failures on these cars people are quick to jump on them and say "they're garbage!" Because they're old and they break. Emotional rushes to judgment like that always were a put-off for me.

I wanna buy a beer for the presenter for *not* droning on about the IMS. Usually when those conversations take place I either head for the exit or self-harm ensues.

Assume this is from Australia, but I find it interesting from watching the real Top Gear from BBC that Europeans and apparently Aussie as well feel very differently about their cars. They don't seem to have a great deal of worries about cars failing and having to work on them. Interesting in this vid the main dude brought two or three issues that I previously had no fears about...Thanx B3 now I will have even more sleepless nights worrrying about excess "overhangs" and associated overhang scuffing...Dear God...I may never sleep again!

In addition to the profanity, my guess is one of them said "we're going to need a bigger boat!"
