Based on the SNL skit "Deep Thoughts", share your nutty wisdom ye ol' wise ones! Ok, I'll start off...

A Porsche 996 painted in arctic silver metallic with graphite grey interior is like a bald headed man with no eyebrows. :D

A good friend once told me success is born of failure, so I bought a 996. With 26 modes of failure I should be on easy street in no time.

Woe to the man who Googles anything that Schell brings up.

I learned this weekend that my wife has her own car classification framework: "sports cars, luxury sedans, and piece-of-crap-Mustangs."

I thought the "piece-of-crap" was implied by "Mustang?"

If you replace every part of your car, is it still your car? Or is it my car, because when you weren’t looking I wrote my name on all the parts?

So here is a quick list of what I've learned from the wisdom of others regarding the 996. Feel free to correct or add to this list.

1. Basically everything on our cars leads to catastrophic failure with the factory single row IMS bearing being to King of Killers.
2. These cars are not reliable enough to drive on 1000 mile trips. You're better off renting a truck w/ car trailer or having it towed to your destination.
3. Parking these cars on uneven payment could cause fluid starvation which lead to catastrophic failure
4. Forgetting to cover your snorkel will lead to water intrusion which leads to hydrolock which is catastrophic failure
5. These cars were never designed for the track; therefore, they should not be considered true sports cars, but rather wannabes
6. "scored bore" is German for engine BBQ
7. Porsche fluids are like holy water, anything else is.. well.. just impure.
8. MOST stands for Mysteriously Odd Screwy Technology
9. AOS and POS are not only acronyms but also synonyms
10. putting a GT3 emblem on the car will immediately add 30 hp to the engine.

Renting a truck might be cost prohibitive. Alternately, you could cut a hole in the driver's side floorboard and Flintstone your way to the destination. This will reduce wear on the IMS as well as being a cost effective way for getting in some good cardio.

If you physically replace them yourself, it’s definitely yours. Now if you pay someone else to do it, is it theirs?
