Tip Won't Go into Drive

Post by Brian Minson » Tue May 22, 2018 4:57 pm

In my 2000 996 C4 Tip, when you push down on the gear selector, and move it four spots down into D it stays in Reverse. The stick is physically in D but the dash light shows N and the car acts like its in Neutral.

Removed the center console, and while moving the stick, everything looks good. No jamming at all.

Jacked up the car, and noticed the where the cable attaches to the TIP it wasn't moving forward all the way to engaged Drive. I pushed it with my finger and pop in it went and sure enough back in the car its ready to drive.

I cleaned up the old oil and grease around the selector on the TIP, but what would be the best lubricant to use, or other suggestions???

Brian :)

If Hurdipervy was here he'd tell you to use WD-40.
